Fitness Center
The center is a place where youth with physical disabilities and special needs can become more independent with their fitness goals.
The Fitness Center program is designed to foster cardiovascular fitness and endurance, incorporating stretching, strengthening, balance and coordination activities in a friendly group environment for youth with physical disabilities and special needs. This program is designed to help families transition into community-based exercise programs and activities.
The Fitness Centers in Kent, Tacoma and Burien are all equipped with cardiovascular exercise equipment in kid-friendly sizes. Upon referral, each child or adolescent is initially evaluated by a physical and/or occupational therapist and then placed in a group comprised of peers of similar ages and developmental levels. A personalized exercise program is designed for each child to address their personal goals.
Fitness Center groups provide a fun, motivating, low-stress atmosphere where kids learn how to use typical gym equipment, work in a team, and become more independent with their health and fitness goals. Read more.
