Volunteer Spotlight: Ben

Ben

Hello, I’m Ben!

“I am in the 12th grade at Concordia Christian Academy in Tacoma, and I will be attending college next year. My hobbies include reading, playing instruments (I play the piano and am teaching myself ukulele and guitar) listening to music, playing video games, and doing homework. I have an acute ability to memorize subjects that interest me (such as astronomy), and I have a near-perfect pitch. My family includes myself, my younger brother, and my Mom and Dad. We also have three very loving cats.”

We asked Ben why he chose to get involved with CTC and what he enjoys about volunteering.

“I wanted to volunteer in a place where the atmosphere felt familiar, accepting, and supportive. I received services from CTC in the past, so I felt this would be a good opportunity to give back to a place that has helped me. I enjoy volunteering at CTC because all of the staff are understanding of me and always take time to answer any of my questions. I also appreciate how much priority is put around ensuring the safety of everyone, especially during the pandemic.”

Ben joined the CTC Volunteer team in July 2021. As a Program Support Volunteer, Ben helped prep and assemble art and science projects to be used during therapy sessions or as take-home resources. Ben’s interest in astronomy led him to pick projects that would be fun and easy for other kids to learn about the solar system.

We so appreciate the thoughtfulness and sincerity Ben brings to his work. Ben, thank you for your service, for choosing to support CTC, and for being involved in your community!
