CTC Receives Nonprofit Organization 2017 Award

tacoma-award.jpgChildren’s Therapy Center received recognition in July from the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber with their Nonprofit Organization 2017 award.

“We were truly thrilled,” says CEO Barry Gourley. “Although we’ve been working in the region for many years providing therapy to children with special needs, we’re still somewhat of a well-kept secret in Pierce County. This award helps change that so that we can help more children.”

Children’s Therapy Center serves over 800 children and families in the Tacoma metro area each year and over 3,000 total including South King County. In addition to providing much-needed therapy, our work reduces the number of children who need special education later in life. The results? A significant cost savings for county taxpayers. Dollars that would have been spent on special education and disability services can be redirected and reinvested in the local economy.

We opened our Tacoma center 10 years ago at the request of Pierce County Division of Developmental Disabilities (the DDD). They recognized that not only was the need high (and growing) there weren’t enough pediatric therapy centers to serve families.

Since then, we’ve become one of Pierce County’s most trusted centers for pediatric therapy, particularly for children and families who are low-income and underinsured.
